My Jaime
Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies.
–Aristotle
My most favoritest person in the whole wide world is my best friend Jaime! He’s insane, silly, sweet, weird, obscene, dorky, and wonderful! I wouldn’t change a thing about him!
This is one of my favorite pictures of my most favorite person. I took this while we were helping my mom decorate the Christmas tree in 2009. He’s so silly.
I do not want a friend who smiles when I smile, who weeps when I weep, for my shadow in the pool can do better than that.
–Confucius
Jaime is one of those too-good-to-be-true types. At least, he is for me! I can tell him anything and everything (and I do!) and he will listen to it all and then tell me exactly what he thinks without sugar-coating it. If I do something stupid, he’ll tell me. If I did something absolutely awful, he would tell me. He doesn’t coddle me or give the usual “everything is going to be fine” lines when something is wrong. He’s very realistic and, in some cases, pessimistic. I’m usually quite optomistic, though, so we tend to balance each other out there.
Ultimately the bond of all companionship, whether in marriage or in friendship, is conversation.
–Oscar Wilde
He and I talk all the time about all kinds of things. Pick a topic and we’ve probably covered it at some point in time. :-p Sometimes we talk about the past, which is always interesting. He and I dated in high school for a while and it didn’t end very well. We didn’t really talk after that, but then Jaime decided to send me an email one day and now we have a house together, four cats, and we’re engaged to be married January 1, 2011.
We both find humor in the oddest things, and while some jokes go over my head simply because I’ve been so sheltered all my life (not my choice of words, but considering how many people who don’t know each other have said the same thing, I suppose it’s accurate) once they’re explained to me, I usually find them funny!
Friendship, like the immortality of the soul, is too good to be believed. When friendships are real, they are not glass threads or frost work, but the solidest things we know.
–Ralph Waldo Emerson
I can tell Jaime things that would make my own family run for cover and never speak to me again and it wouldn’t phase him one bit. He’s one of those rock-solid types that are loyal through to the end and who won’t turn on you or leave you behind because of something stupid.
Jaime is my bestest friend in the whole wide world and I only hope that everyone has someone like him at some point in their lives!
